Sorry if this was covered somewhere else in here , but as a rider here in the US , I can not believe I have not heard of the massive heat wave you have been having . Parts have been up to 53 degrees warmer than average ? Up to 122 F ? Holy hell , that is a bit on the warm side .
This is a report of a trip I did last summer (August 2018). I know it’s a bit late, I got distracted with planning my next trip which starts soon and will be live. This one will be mostly pictures.
Last summer I managed to get four weeks off from work, and was able to leave the whole month of August. Last year I went three weeks and met up with friends along the way. This time I’m alone for four weeks, just to test the waters and see if I can manage on my own for a prolonged time.
NOTE: So instead of starting a new thread every time I rebuild my bike or make some sort of change I've decided to just keep updating this one. It keeps it all more contained but also makes it a bit long. It is essentially a diary of my 950 Adventure and the changes I've made along the way.
- First teardown to the frame - 12
- Reassembly after powdercoat - 29-52
- New Brembo front master cylinder -post 60-74
- Beginning of second rebuild with 990 "Flanny Killer" engine - post 104
hi I’m looking to buy a transalp 650 or 700 but don’t want to be spending to much so likely to end up with a high mileage bike. Anything to be looking out for and what’s classed as high miles and likely to be time for some engine work ?
I realise the are many variables as how the bike has been serviced and looked after but any advice appreciated
Panamint Valley, Saline Valley, Death Valley and the surrounding areas are some of my favorite local places to get Lost. I enjoy visiting as often as possible and usually I have a few photos. :)
Here's a thread to share images we all took while in or around Death Valley, maybe a full ride report isn't in order but you'd like to share some of your favorite photos, here's a thread to do it.
The new ADVrider forum software automatically scales photos to your browser window size, no more blown...
I'm in a unique spot, in that my girlfriend and I both telecommute for work and are planning a trip out west for this summer.
We've got a little pop up trailer we tow behind an old road king, and would like to spend some weeks dry camping while working in some of the state/national parks out in Montana this summer. Most of the real pretty stuff out there has dry camping as the only real option to get there, and a short enough season that trying to hit campgrounds that have...
I'm shopping for a bigger tank for my YZ and I like the looks of the Acerbis tank; but I've never owned one. I've had several iterations of IMS and Clarke over the years. IMO The IMS nudges out the Clarke in terms of build quality mainly in the fuel caps (no big deal as an OEM honda XR cap fits on a Clarke).
Anyone have experience with the Acerbis tanks to compare? Are aftermarket caps available?
I occasionally lurk here on the German side but currently ride a 2015 KTM SA that I do really love, specially from the performance side. About the only thing that I struggled with is it is a bit tall with my RDL seat. Saturday I was bored and stopped into my local KTM/BMW dealer and spotted the new 1250 exclusive, and I have to say that it is a damn sexy looking bike. It is the low version, so I sat on it and I was flat footed which I like. The GSA exclusive has a less appealing...
I’ve got a challenging electrical problem, and I’d sure appreciate some help from the wisdom of the forum.
Here’s the problem: bike won’t start, there's a short somewhere (I think)
Here are the symptoms:
-Turn the key and the speedo lights up, and the needle sweeps normally.
-No warning lights
-headlight comes on
-Fuel pump primes normally and the throttle bodies cycle as usual
But when I hit the starter button, the bike does not turn over, instead, I hear a click, and the instrument...
Just brainstorming...I spent a lot of time waffling back and forth between a van, and traditional travel trailer, and finally came up with a real plan that includes taking the gear I have, without taking up extra space.
I haven't bought the trailer yet, but I've got a good idea what I want, and intend to use my rafting equipment camp kitchen, dry boxes, and coolers, with dedicated tie-downs, shelves and brackets.
My biggest questions are around insulation and windows. And particularly the...
I'm looking for something to wear on a daily commute for a little added protection. I've been looking at two options, a leatte style neck brace or a airbag vest. If you have one or the other, why did you choose to that one over the other? Any issues with including it in your routine or in general? Any other things I should know before making a purchase? Thanks guys!
A bud of mine with a 2019 GSA took it in for the first service and the tech noticed a small amount of oil seepage from his Left cylinder head and my bud mentioned it to a couple of us who also have a 2019 1250 GSA. One guy said his was dry but unfortunately, mine also has an issue. The tech told my bud there was a rolled O ring causing the issue but I don't know the location of the O ring.
I took mine in for the first service today and the shop didn't have a replacement gasket so they...
